2-1-1
2-1-1 provides people with a simple, effective way to get connected to available resources in their area.
Why it matters
There are an increasing number of unmet needs for children, unemployed and underemployed individuals, older adults, the homeless and the "new poor," but the resources available and the delivery systems for helping peole are shrinking.
What we're doing
United Way for Southeastern Michigan's 2-1-1 geographic coverage includes just less than 50% of the population of the state of Michigan, and 2-1-1 Community Care Advocates provided referrals to more than 12,000 unique program services.
2-1-1 collects and maps data trends in the health and human services sector, which contributes toward helping UWSEM and the community-at- large develop strategies for addressing various acute and long-term challenges in the region. Gas payment assistance and food pantries have been the most frequently referred services in 2-1-1.
